Measuring the Health and Well-Being of NHS Nurses

One of our partners, Work and Well-Being Ltd, specialises in evaluating the well-being of particular employee populations and how this impacts directly on performance outcomes such as sickness absence. They do this using online assessments that are completed by the target population and take approximately 7 minutes to complete.

Following the recommendation from the Boorman Review on the health and well-being of the NHS, they wish to develop and validate an assessment that will measure the well-being of nurses working within an acute trust. No such instrument currently exists. To do this, we are working with WWB to recruit a number of trusts to take part in the development phase. Our work with sections of the NHS shows that this approach provides new, valuable and action-orientated management information which, in turn, can reduce on-going costs and release cash.
